Greta Thunberg's call to action

Thursday 21st October 2021

There is hope– I’ve seen it – but it does not come from the governments or corporations, it comes from the people.” Greta Thunberg

The people of Scotland have a unique opportunity to influence world leaders assembled in Glasgow, to pressure them for Climate Justice.

This mass mobilisation comes at a critical point in history when the latest IPCC Climate Report 'Code Red for Humanity', stresses the 'Irrefutable evidence of human influence”. Global heating is affecting every region on Earth, with many of the changes becoming irreversible. The internationally agreed threshold of 1.5°C is perilously close.

Be part of making history, join the Mass Mobilisation in Glasgow.

We have a redesigned postcard focussing on travel through to Glasgow (attached). They are proving very effective at informing people about COP and the Global Day of Action. It is an open door just now, the more we push the bigger the climate justice demonstrations will be. Can you help distribute some postcards? Could you put them through neighbours’ letterboxes, maybe to your local café, pub, to your footie team? Get in touch and we’ll get you as many as you need.

Here is a report from one of the Coalition activists: “I looked this up and eventually managed to fill in their form. Almost immediately I had a request from a young German woman who wants a bed for 3 nights, 4th - 7th November. There is a waiting list of 3,000 people from around the world desperate for accommodation. SO, if you have any space at all, do please consider putting someone up and contacting this network. For most of the time, they will just need a bed and an early breakfast, and maybe some help on the first day to get to the bus station. They will be given other meals in Glasgow.
